The entire building was completely renovated in 1999 reestablishing the facility to its former grandeur. Originally built in 1852 the space offers three private rooms handling events from six people to over two hundred fifty. After the hotel renovations unearthed the bones from the the Civil War soldiers, the remains were cleared, but the paranormal energy continues to exist. Guest have reported numerous accounts of the ghosts of amputee soldiers who walk vacantly and aimlessly throughout the hotel. One of these departed souls has been seen in the hotel's lobby with his missing arm in hand, pleading with the guests to help him find a surgeon.

From Mr. C who assists with anything you need there to Stephanie at the front counter management area, and all the Chris’s, they make you feel like family coming back for a reunion every year. The rooms have great decor, and the breakfast is the best in Savannah."

Everything was spotless and in great repair. The location is perfect for exploring the historical district. Loved the location, the friendliness of the staff, the comfort of the parlour area and the wine and nibbles reception with entertainment. The waiter serving at this was so nice and welcoming, a credit to the hotel, he was a gentleman. Bedroom was so comfy and immaculately clean.

It is hard not to recommend the Marshall House on Broughton Street. The ghost stories and gruesome history of the Marshall House is hard to ignore. This maybe why it is featured on so many of the ghost tours here in Savannah, including our Ghost City Tour's Grave Tales of Savannah Ghost Tour. Amazing hotel, excellent location in Savannah. This place was walking distance to almost every place we wanted to go, including the riverwalk and many ... It was great staying here learning the history of this hotel.
The Marshall House is the oldest operating hotel in Savannah and has an authentic atmosphere that's not to be missed. Built in 1851, the hotel was occupied by Union troops led by General Sherman at the end of the Civil War, and was a hospital during two Yellow Fever epidemics. A portrait of Mary Marshall, painted in 1830 by artist Peter Laurens, proudly hangs behind the front desk in the hotel's lobby. One day a young girl who was staying at the hotel with her father pointed to the picture of Mary Marshall and told her father that she had seen the lady in the hallway.
